Destination · Cairo
Cairo is a city you enter sideways.
Not through monuments alone — through traffic rhythm, café hours, and the way neighborhoods change after Maghrib.
Most first visits try to compress Cairo into pyramids plus museum plus Khan el-Khalili. That works as a postcard. It fails as a stay. Give the city three to four nights if you can, and treat Giza as a half-day that begins early.
How we pace Cairo
- Day one: museum focus while legs are fresh; evening walk in a quieter district.
- Day two: Giza at opening, then return for rest before an old-city evening.
- Day three: Coptic Cairo or Citadel morning; markets late afternoon when shade returns.
Small practical notes
Carry small bills for taxis and tips. Confirm meter use or agree a fare before moving. Drink bottled water. Build a midday pause into every plan — Cairo’s heat and density are cumulative.
If you only have one flexible evening, spend it where locals eat, not where tour buses unload. Ask your hotel for a neighborhood restaurant that does not require a show.
